As the children of Israel journeyed through the wilderness, they came to a place named Rephidim. Here, they took a rest due to their extreme thirst from lack of water. This was a physical water, but it was spiritual as well. While they were at rest, a certain nation came upon them to attack them without cause. This nation was Amalek.
From what we can read about Amalek in Exodus 17:8-16 and Deuteronomy 25:17-19, I’m sure it’s safe to say that we can come to mutual conclusion of who this nation is. They prey upon the weak. They seek those out whom we are to unflinchingly protect. They gaze upon the weak with an with ked eye. They lie in wait for the woman with child. They think to seize up little children at play. As we can see, they are malicious and RUTHLESS!
This is who our enemy is! Well at least one of them. In Deuteronomy 25:19, it says that the Lord commanded the children of Israel to “blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven”! That means to utterly destroy them! To uproot them at the root. Now, this is a very serious charge. The most High doesn’t seem like he is playing any games here. I think He has a point, and He has made it very clear what is needed against this Foe. We are to hold nothing back when battling this spirit. We are to leave it on the field, sort of speak, go all out!
Are you facing Amalek today? Are you being confronted without cause on your journey to higher places? Are you feeling weak and inadequate, and finding that this is the prime time when you are being attacked? Have you just been refreshed by the Holy Spirit, taking your rest by the way, and this wicked spirit pounce upon you unannounced?! I’m here to say, you are not alone my brother! For I am standing next to you, side by side with my eye upon the mighty hand of God! This enemy will not defeat you and he will not defeat me. For he is defeated already!Blessed be the name of the Lord our God! The Creator and Ruler of all things.
Let’s be the watchmen we were commanded to be. Let’s protect our weak. Let’s protect our young. Lets fight for the family. Let’s rest with our eyes open. Lets sleep standing up.
Peace and love
