Known by His name and living up to it.
Mahatma Gandhi once said….
“I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ.”
Christians are they that follow Christ and thus are expected to be like Him in everything they do, however probably the known Christians with whom Mahatma Gandhi dealt had no attributes or similarity with Christ.
The Jews at the time of Jesus boasted about being children of Abraham to which Jesus responded in thus manner…..
“They answered and said to Him, “Abraham is our father.”
Jesus said to them, “If you were Abraham’s children, you would do the works of Abraham.”
John 8:39 NKJV
Just being known as a Christian and having a life with no relation to Christ is actually a failure of our personality.
Even though we might be known as a believer, however due to the fact that our deeds and life are that of an unbeliever, we have no blessedness, hope and courage in life.
This is what God tells to them who belong to Him and are known by His name….
“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
2 Chronicles 7:14 NKJV
God lays a splendid offer before us stating that we who are so honorably known by His name, can live up to His name if we humble ourselves, pray and seek Him.
The result of such a comeback would be forgiveness and healing from the Lord God.
We are not just a physical being, we also have a spiritual personality and within us should dwell the Spirit of the living God-the Holy Spirit.
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”
2 Timothy 1:7 NKJV
The Holy Spirit in us gives us the required strength and power, helps us to truly love all and live this blessed life with a perfect and sound mind.
Let’s pray and desire that we may stand true to this requirement from the Lord our God….
“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”
Matthew 5:16 NKJV
God Bless,
Abraham
