ONE DAY AT A TIME
Freelance writer Lupie Riley
Thought: The skies went silent over America September 11, 2001. The twin
towers in NY were toppled by an unprovoked terrorist attack. Every single
civilian plane was grounded that day. The news media revealed a map of the
daily air traffic and it was phenominal. People going 'to and fro' just like the
Bible said in Dan. 12:4. We live in a busy, busy, chaotic world. There are
job's to go to, familys to take care of, movies, sports and constant
entertainment are all worldly distraction and obligations that take us away
from the two most important things in life.
The first is the reading of God's word. This is crucial and the final authority to
test everything else for TRUTH. Jesus said he is the way, the truth and the
life...no one can come to the Father except through him. Truth is found in the
embodiment of the God/man Jesus. His Word should be the foundation we
work from to test everything else that comes our way.
Prayer comes in second. In most cases Jesus gets the scraps of our time.
God desires this fellowship with his children and it is our way of keeping our
focus on him. If we put God first, the rest will fall into place along with his
blessings. It reminds me of the grace that fell upon the Israelites in the form of
manna. This miraculous bread, however, was to be consumed every day
because it didn't last into the next day. When we arise each morning, His
grace is like the manna falling upon us as we take "one day at a time". There
should be no left over's for the next day or living off the yesterdays that's past
and gone. Our eyes should be on Jesus who is our strength and shield as
we trust in him.
Prayer: Father God, remind me daily to take one day at a time and not bring
in things that happened in the past or worry about things that might happen
in the future. Give me the faith to trust in whatever you allow in each day.
You promised that you will always be in my life no matter what the
circumstance. We will walk together and at times you will carry me like the
footsteps in the sand. Amen
Verse: Dan 12:4 "But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words and seal the book,
even to the time of the end: Many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall
be increased." Math 6:34 " so don't be anxious about tomorrow, God will take
care of your tomorrow too, live ONE DAY AT A TIME."
