GETTING OLDER AND LOOKING AHEAD
Furthermore, we had earthly fathers to discipline us, and we respected them; shall we not much rather be subject to the Father of Spirits, and live? Hebrews 12:9 NASB
I don’t want my thoughts and words about aging to be morbid. I don’t want them to bring sadness into the hearts of a reader. I simply want to be truthful about the aging process. I want people to see the beauty of aging, the anticipation of resurrection, and the joy of “going home”.
When our earthly bodies begin to wear out is not a time for sissies. We certainly begin to loose the energy of our youth. We seem to suffer more and don’t recover as quickly from a simple cold as we used to do. Our hearing fades, our eyesight slowly goes dark, and even our bladders need closer attention. Since we become less active, we eat less. Often memories may become dim even though dementia is not present. Yes, our bodies do wear out.
Our bodies are nothing more that the temporary residence for our spirits. Though our bodies may wear our, our spirits never wear out or disappear. God made our bodies from the dust of the earth and eventually recycles them back to the earth. Our spirits have always been a small part of the Infinite Spirit of God. When we depart from our earthly bodies our spirits return into the loving arms of our Creator. We are resurrected and simply return home to dance and sing with the Angels.
Dear Father, thank you for being with us during our life on earth and with us forever in your Heaven. Amen
