In the New Testament the Bible states that the Law of God is a schoolmaster designed to show man his need for Christ.
For his Law is just, holy, and good, so to live with no respect to his law will leave our life unsatisfied.
God’s first commandment says that Thou Shalt have no other gods before me.
Things of this earth to us should grow strangely dim, and keeping him as our chief aim will cause all earthly idols to flee.
The second commandment states that Thou Shalt not make unto thee any graven image.
We are not allowed gods of our own imagination while we’re on this path of pilgrimage.
Commandment three is broken by living below our calling, for he says Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain.
Let every man that takes the name of Christ depart from iniquity, thus glorifying his lovely name.
The fourth commandment is simple, yet in this age forgotten for it says to Remember the Sabbath Day To Keep It Holy.
The Lord commands us to honor this day for his worship, so we must on this day seek to honor him solely.
The fifth commandment tells us to Honor Thy Father, and Thy Mother.
Contrary to this world’s view we honor them by keeping God’s commandments, and no other.
The sixth commandment is plain and states that Thou Shalt Not Kill.
We break this commandment with thoughts of vengeance, and hatred, not just their blood to spill.
The seventh commandment covers infidelity for God says Thou Shalt Not Commit Adultery.
This goes much deeper than physical relationships, but can be broken by insinuations, and flattery.
The devil came to steal, kill, and destroy therefore Commandment eight says Thou Shalt not Steal
We all know that taking what is not yours is sin, but what about Tithes, Time, and Skill?
Commandment nine is that Thou Shalt Not Bear False Witness against Thy Neighbor.
We must strive to live upright in our society, our words should be true and sure.
Our wandering hearts do desire many things, some unlawfully and commandment ten states that Thou Shalt Not Covet.
Only God can help us to be content with our lot, while seeking this world’s treasures leaves us with many regrets.
Psalm 119:96 says that I have seen an end of all perfection, but thy commandment is exceeding broad.
If we go in the way of God’s commandments we set our affections on things above, and not this world’s applause.
