WHO IS AND ISN’T GOD?
God is Spirit and those who worship Him must worship in Spirit and truth. John 4:24 NASB
Trying to define God is attempting to define the indefinable. We are told that God is a Spirit and that we must worship Him in spirit and in truth. God is the Creator who caused all things to come into existence. God is the Alpha and the Omega, existing forever in the past, today, and forever into the future. There is no god other than the one true God, God is infinite/totality, and God is the ONE. Yes, these are all true characteristics of God, but our awesome God is much more than these attributes. Our Lord is more than human minds will ever understand.
During our life here on earth, we often run into people who would like us to see them as someone special or perhaps even a lesser god. Examples of such behavior are over demanding bosses, ministers who refuse to hear opinions other their own, bullies, wife beaters, liars, cheats, thieves, idolaters, and adulterers. None of these are God.
God is above all and in all. The best we can do is to worship and serve the One who created the universe and you and me. We cannot serve God directly. We can serve Him by serving all of His creation. We can be conservators of all He has given us. We can be builders rather than destroyers.
Dear God, the Father of all that exists, help and guide us as we try to serve you through our service to all man/woman kind. Amen
