Encouragement
We are always under the impression that in life we have to fight some battles alone, with all our might and capability, endurance and perseverance. We need to hold our heads high and put on our brightest smile even when we are hurting inside.
But in reality there is no need for this. Because when we think we are all alone on the battlefield there is someone who is silently watching us, who knows our every move from the time we awake to the time we slumber and even when are fast asleep he continues to watch us with His loving gaze.
It is He who sends us his heavily guarded angels to arm us when we think we are walking alone on the rocky terrain. He not only keeps a round the clock guard on us but his protective glance never shifts even for a moment.
Whenever we made it all by ourselves and thought we managed it well, it was in fact God who managed it for us so admirably and smoothly. He is our private sleuth, detective, guardian angel, satellite from heaven all rolled into one.
There is a story told of three childhood friends a boy and two girls who used to hang out together and were very close to each other. The boy was a smart lad. Out of the two girls one was simple but intelligent while the other was pretty but not so interested in studies. One day the boy's parents decided to migrate to another country and settle down for better prospects. The boy was heartbroken on having to leave his two closest friends behind. He always had a crush on the pretty girl and before leaving pleaded with her to keep in touch with him via daily e.mails. The girl agrees but as soon as the boy leaves she tells the simple girl that she was not keen at all in sending any e.mails as she found all this stuff as boring as her studies.
The simple girl on the other hand always had a genuine liking for the lad so in order that he should not be hurt by her friend's rejection she sets about sending him daily e.mails but in her friend's name. The lad and she continued exchanging e.mails over the years and they discussed everything under the sun and moon so each one knew the other's liking be it for food or books.
But the girl always refrained from sending her snaps to him. One fine day he sends her a message that he was coming over to visit them. He also tells her that there was no need for her to send him her picture as he would instantly recognise her after all the messages they had exchanged over the years. His mind and heart would know her at once. The grand day arrived. Both the girls go to the airport to receive him. But in a rebound, the simple girl is shattered when the lad now a young good looking gentleman walks over to her friend who was now a beautiful young woman and calls her by her name. The friend is delighted and she too falls for his looks though she never had any deep love for him which in fact the simple woman had in her heart which had grown over the years.
Days pass and the man soon begins to discover that her friend was far removed from the things which they had exchanged in their mails. Her tastes and hobbies were entirely different. He begins to feel uncomfortable around her whereas he realises that when he is with the simple woman they gel well and exchange their views which seem to match. He is completely puzzled that this woman seems to match the description of the e.mails shared more than the other.
The climax takes place the day this simple woman hums a tune in a church they visit. The man is dumbfounded as this was the tune he had sent her in an e.mail years back. His eyes soon open and he guesses the truth that it was she who was sending mails in her friend's name. Also his heart was attracted towards her given all they had shared throughout the years and he knew then and there in that church that he loved her and not her friend. He could now also see the love shining in her eyes and apologizes profusely for not recognizing her when they first met. He had gone by the eyes and looks instead of going by his heart and mind which without question won in the end.
An inspirational story because we too go through such situations in life. We go by what we see instead of what we feel. But the heart knows that it is right to love the one who dwells within.
It is said that Love is stronger than death. The flash of it is the flash of fire. The flame of Yahweh himself. There is a beautiful hymn with a very striking line on the love of God which says; " All I ask of you is to remember me as forever loving you."
Truly we can never forget the love given to us by the Lord on this earth, the love he left on the cross and the love that he still sends down to us daily from heaven.
We know in the book of Genesis 20 that Jacob fell in love with Rachel the moment he set eyes on her. He worked for her father Laban for seven years to win her hand. We read in Genesis 29:20 that these seven years seemed like few days to Jacob because of his love for Rachel. But at the end of seven years Laban tricked Jacob into marrying his elder daughter Leah by getting Jacob drunk on the wedding day. However Jacob's heart was set on Rachel. So he agreed to work hard for another seven long years to gain the right to marry Rachel as well which he eventually did. He toiled for his love as he knew it was right to love Rachel as he owed it to his heart which she had occupied from day one.
When love stands out in the heart, everything else fades in the background. The right to love is given to each of us and it is right to love those whom God has given to us. The soulmate he planned for us in the journey of life to accompany us and recognize the needs of our heart more than anyone else can do so.
In fact it would be wrong not to love the one whom our heart goes topsy turvy for. However hard we try to fight this emotion, love will claim its right at the right time and rightly so. We can neither hold back love nor hide it under a bushel but it has to shine on lampstands of our heart, eyes and mind.
When we give in to love, we will realize how sweet it is to love and the right place to be is in love always!
When we love God first which is his right, he gives us a beautiful and right experience of love on earth with the one whom our heart has selected with his approval.
