Marriage
A pact is an agreement or a promise made between a person or persons to remain true and help each other. The marriage vow is a spiritual pact and one that God vehemently holds sacred because He instituted the first union and commanded man to adhere to it, see; Genesis 2:24; Matthew 19:5; Malachi 2:14-15. Man has tried to emulate this by instituting laws and decrees to bind a marital union to avoid a catastrophic situation of people swinging in and out of marital unions like the proverbial yoyo!
To the Couple:
We are gathered together here to unite this man ____________ and this woman____________ in the bonds of matrimony. To the Groom: Do you take _________ to be your lawfully wedded wife? If so answer "I DO." To the Bride: Do you take ___________ to be your lawfully wedded husband? If so answer "I DO." The minister states: By the authority vested in me by the State of ______________ I now pronounce you husband and wife.
2 Corinthians 6:14 ”… For what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? And what communion hath light with darkness?”
A yoke is a wooden bar that joins two oxen to each other and to the burden they pull. An “unequally yoked” team has one stronger ox and one weaker, or one taller and one shorter. The weaker or shorter ox would walk more slowly than the taller, stronger one, causing the load to go around in circles. When oxen are unequally yoked, they cannot perform the task set before them. Instead of working together, they are at odds with one another.
Before two people enter into such an accord as marriage, a lot must be put into consideration to avoid enduring a life time of pain and management if you want to stay true to your creator with a willingness to let Him, in His way and time, restructure a faulty foundation that you, egoistically built.
The main factor in any true relationship is Love, God loves us so much that to redeem us from the punishment of iniquity, He gave us, as a sacrifice, a sinless son! God´s love is incomparable and He enjoins us to eschew evil and emulate His ways all of the time.
Love comprises respect, trust, compromise, being friends with each other and cherishing the union while no two marriages are exactly alike, "a happy and healthy marriage" is one in which both partners feel safe, secure and loved,"
Where there is DISRESPECT, DISTRUST and DISHONOUR, one cannot claim the existence of love.
Respect: Esteem for a person includes honouring them and what they stand for, not exposing them by words or actions to disregard, dishonor and all types of environmental hazards that are on the look-out for a healthy union to disrupt and destroy.
Dictionary meaning of respect:
• a feeling of admiring someone or something that is good, valuable, important, etc.
•: a feeling or understanding that someone or something is important, serious, etc., and should be treated in an appropriate way
“...For better or for worse…,” but with 50 percent of all marriages ending in divorce, evidently this is a vow that's broken quite regularly. Malachi 2 14Yet ye say, wherefore? Because the Lord hath been witness between thee and the wife of thy youth, against whom thou hast dealt treacherously: yet is she thy companion, and the wife of thy covenant. 15And did not he make one? Yet had he the residue of the spirit. And wherefore one? That he might seek a godly seed. Therefore take heed to your spirit, and let none deal treacherously against the wife of his youth.
Which way forward?
Gentle perseverance, and a willingness to compromise is the major key to sustenance of an enduring marital relationship
I have heard it said that; Life is not about finding the right person, but creating the right relationship.
It´s not how we care in the beginning, but how much we care till the very end.
Search for a good heart but don’t search for a beautiful face, ´cos beautiful things are not always good, but good things are always beautiful.
And remember above all;
Often when we lose all hope and think this is the end, remember God and PRAY; it’s just a bend and not the end
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 1 Corinthians 3: 17
Jude 1: 24 Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, 25 To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.
