"The harvest is plentiful BUT the workers are few."
Luke quoted Jesus making this assertion in Luke 10: 2.
We all know how tiring and uncomfortable it is when there are too few workers on the job. The hours get longer and productivity expectations plummet.
Jesus, Who is a good everything, including Manager, had a method by which the problem could be fixed; In the same verse we read, "Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into the field."
I don't know about you but this is not a prayer I have often prayed.
Jesus instructs as us, as if we should naturally understand, that prayer is an activity in which we must engage.
It seems that prayer is like our petitions traveling through a tube into Heaven, and then the answer runs back through the tube into earth and we then see the manifestation of that for which we prayed. If the prayer is not prayed maybe the answer cannot come: "You have not because you ask not." James 4: 2
We have promises given to us in the Scriptures about many things, and also promises about God's response to us when we pray are many.
So what is our problem?
For some of us it is that we don't want to change a life style of which we feel God is in disagreement. For others of us it is that we don't want to be called upon to do the work God may ask us to do, or maybe go where He may ask us to go. Others may not see the importance of any of it and so don't give a flip.
Here is the beauty of working with God, He never asks us to do anything that He has not equipped us to do. In the doing of that for which He has equipped us, we find our excitement and joy in being alive, because, we were made to do whatever God has gifted us to do.
Yes, the Lord is One Who has some stringent requirements, but He is also One Who pays well, both in this life and in the next. "You seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and ALL these THINGS will be added unto you." Matthew 6: 33
God is not in disfavor of us having good things, He is very much in disfavor of the things having us. It is our focus that is paramount to Him.
Reasons God wants us to pray:
God is aware, and tries to inform us that life is short; He calls it, "A vapor that appears and suddenly dissipates." Ask anyone who has been alive for 75 or 80 years if they have been here a long time, most will tell you it has been such a short time. Psalm 39: 5 - 6
God wants us to be wise and know that what happens here is just a brief occurrence and is not the forever experience.
The forever experience is with Him in Heaven, or in the Lake of Fire and Brimstone forever; that is why we must make sure that our name is written in The Lamb's Book of Life and following that to make certain that we tell as many other people as possible about having the certainty that their names are written there also.
How to get your name in The Lamb's Book of Life:
So, in case you have not heard it before, the way you get your name into the Lamb's Book of Life is to ask Jesus, The Lamb of God, to come into your heart and life and to forgive the sin with which you were born as a human being, and to forgive your sins that you have therefore committed. Revelation 3: 20
There are those persons who tell us that we must love Jesus before we ask Him to save us from our sin and take us to Heaven when we die, but I did not find that to be true. It may be ideal, but not true in my case.
I ask Jesus to come into my heart and life because I did not want to go to Hell when I die. After that Jesus has taught me to love Him. Jesus just severely wants us to live with Him forever and He will accept us where ever we are and forgive us of whatever we have done. But we must ask it of Him.
"I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life and no man come to the Father except by Me." That is what Jesus said. John 14: 6
"Come unto Me, all you who are weary and are heavily burdened and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for My yoke is easy and My burden is light." Matthew 11:30
This is a wise move to make, it is a smart investment paying dividends unimagined, forever!
Here is one of the blessings of asking salvation from Jesus: "Blessed are they whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered. Blessed is the person whose sin the Lord will never count against him."
Romans 4: 7-8
Here is how you do it:
Romans 10: 8 - 11; " But what does it (the Bible) say? "The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart, that is the word of faith we are proclaiming: "That IF you confess with your mouth "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised Jesus from the dead, you WILL be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess that you are saved. As the Scripture says, "Anyone who trusts in Jesus will never be put to shame."
Don't let the opportunity pass you by. Do it now, just speak to Jesus, He hears and He promises to respond with His great big YES! John 6: 37
