The Question of Our Lives Karen Pourbabaee
“…But who do you say that I am?” Mathew 16:15 NAS
The world’s major religions believe Jesus was either a great teacher or great prophet. They don’t deny His existence or the fact he lived and walked on the earth at a specific time and place in history. We cannot passively accept what others have said. We must seek the answer for ourselves and sooner or later proclaim who we think Jesus is.
Jesus has proven to be many things for me, but I first came to know Him as Savior. While 1 John 4:14 informs us that, “…the Father has sent the Son to be the Savior of the world,” I had to choose Him to be my Savior, opening the door of my heart and coming into relationship with Him.
Several years ago I came to know Jesus more intimately as Healer. (Psalm 107:20) I underwent surgery for confirmed pre-cancer and probable low-grade cancer; postop biopsies revealed no trace of either.
Throughout my life I have known Him as Protector, but never so vividly as the day I had to veer off a highway to avoid a head-on crash. My vehicle soared in the air off a five-foot shoulder drop, landing in the middle of an old farmer’s yard. He led my trembling body inside his home and placed a hand-carved wooden cross in my hands, made by his very own. It’s displayed in my home as a reminder of His protection. (Psalm 46:1)
These are but a few of my answers that have evolved over the years. I recall them in present circumstances and remember again who He is.
Who do you say that Jesus is?
