"For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ."-John 1:17
What we really should understand about Christianity is that it is full of grace and truth. Grace is one of the gifts from God that cannot be earned by man. It is well evident that we all sin, but God shows mercy despite of the fact that we sin.
In the Old Testament, God gave to Moses the Law, and Moses gave the Law to the Israelites that they may keep it as a perpetual ordinance throughout all their generations. The teachers of the Law then made many constraints for the people. For example, in the Law, it was told that the Israelites should observe a sabbath for the Lord, but the teachers of the Law made many limitations for the day of sabbath. This is where grace is different from Law.
Jesus wants you as you are and wants to transform you to His image. The Lord knows about each and everyone very well. He just wants us to let Him in.
"Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hears my voice, and opens the door, I will come in to him, and will eat with him, and he with me."-Revelation 3:20.
The next moeity that Jesus brought into the world was Truth. Jesus himself said, "I am the Way, the Truth and the Life.". Jesus is the Way, the Truth and Life. In Him is found the Truth and there is no lie in Him. For He is God and He is perfect. He will one day mould us in His own image. For now we see in a shadow but then we can see clearly, face to face. Until then we ought to stick onto the Truth. For the TRUTH SETS US FREE.
The Lord above is so gracious that we are no longer bound to the Law but we are liberated through grace and truth. But does that mean that the Law is not useful? The answer is 'no'. The Law was given by God and it is flawless. The Law was a shadow but now having faced the Light (JESUS CHRIST), we no longer need to see the shadow. For the TRUE LIGHT brings grace and truth that will set us free from the Law.
"Dear Lord, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, I humbly request you, my Lord, to grant me your Holy Spirit, so that I may have the Grace and Truth that Jesus gives and that you may grant me according to the prayer of my Lord which he prayed to you, saying, "Sanctify them through thy truth: they Word is truth.(John 17:17)". Lord, we being humans are sinful, but Lord, I pray thee, have mercy upon us. That we may bless thy name. Lord help us to bring more people to you so that all may know of your loving Truth. May your will be done both in heaven and in earth." In the strong name of Jesus Christ, AMEN.
