King Solomon had great wisdom; yet, he did some foolish things. Turning away from God’s commands, he took many foreign women as his wives. Instead of being a positive influence on them, he allowed the women to draw him away from serving Jehovah God. He began to worship their pagan gods.
“And God spoke all these words, saying:
‘I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
‘You shall have no other gods before Me.
‘You shall not make for yourself a carved image—any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments (Exodus 20:1-6 NKJV).”
Those who keep the LORD’s commandments are wise and blessed.
King Solomon shared true words of wisdom in the conclusion of Ecclesiastes.
“Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter:
Fear God and keep His commandments,
For this is man’s all.
For God will bring every work into judgment,
Including every secret thing,
Whether good or evil (Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 NKJV).”
