SELF-MADE OR GOD-MADE?
Many people refer to themselves as 'self made'; by this, they attempt to establish and emphasize the fact that their achievements in life are largely attributable to their own efforts, strength, struggle, wisdom, skill, tact and doggedness. These people obviously have failed to realize that it is only the Almighty God that can make a man to become what He has created him to be.
I don't have a problem accepting the fact that a man can actually struggle his way to become something or somebody in life, but without God, NO man can ever become exactly what he has been created to be in life. It's not enough for a man just to be 'something' or 'somebody' in life; your entire life, in the final analysis, is meaningless and empty unless you become exactly that man, or that woman God has created you to be. LET GOD MAKE YOU!
In Matthew 4:19, Jesus says 'FOLLOW ME, and I WILL MAKE YOU.....' Your making is in following Christ. You can never be made into that man you were created to be without following Christ. You can’t be made by following the crowd, or even your own ideas. Proverbs 3:5-6 says ‘Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths’. An idea may appear brilliant to you from every angle, but God’s ideas alone will craft you into the man you were created to be. As the Author and Finisher of your faith, God alone has the perfect idea of what He wants to make out of your life. No one else has the blueprints and details for your life than your Creator, and that’s why you can never ignore Him if your life must be meaningful in the real sense.
When you become exactly what you were created to be, the devil loses! Please you need to understand that Satan has no business preventing you from becoming ‘something’ or ‘somebody’ in life, his battle cry is to stop you from becoming exactly that man or that woman God created you to be. At the temptation of Jesus, the devil attempted to stop Him from becoming what God sent Him to be; Christ was purposely sent for salvation of humanity, which could only be accomplished through the cross, but the devil attempted to divert that purpose by offering Him alternatives. Matthew 4:5-7 says, ‘And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it. If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine’. Getting all the kingdoms of the world and its glories without having to go through the shameful and painful death of the cross seemed to be a brilliant idea (the easy way), but that was not God’s way. If Christ had accepted satan’s offer, which was well calculated to stop Him from becoming the Author of salvation and the King of the Everlasting Kingdom, He may still have become ‘a great man’‘a great Prophet’ or something in that generation, but that is not the man He was sent to be.

In becoming what God wants you to be in life, you have a responsibility, and that is to follow Christ; follow Him step by step; follow His leading; follow His instructions (even when they don’t make sense); follow His commandments; follow Him day by day, follow His all the way! You may not realize it, but you’re being made and crafted into that man and that woman you were created to be, when you follow the Lord. Let me remind you: that which God makes can never be less than a MATERPIECE, the joy of many generations. That's why I know that your life will come out beautifully, no matter what you're going through now.
The call of God to each and every one of us is primarily to follow Him; Christ knows that it’s only those who follow Him that can be made to fulfill God’s purpose and further His kingdom on earth. It’s only the life that God makes that can make true meaning! Don’t ever be satisfied becoming ‘somebody’ or ‘something’ in life, be the man or the woman you were created to be, follow Him, and He will make you!
Shalom!
