Gospel
Romand 8: 21..that the creation itself also will be set free from its slavery to corruption into the freedom of the glory of the children of God.22For we know that the whole creation groans and suffers the pains of childbirth together until now.
THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO…..
KITTY
1Many humans have undertaken to draw up an account of the life of Yeshua, the messiah, but I felt it incumbent upon myself to carefully give my story, O Theophilus, as few have, directly from the feet of the promised one.
2My story begins in a stable, like where he was born, one of a dozen new kittens crying out for mother’s milk in a dark corner under the hoofs of donkeys and cattle. 3Mother was gone soon after my weaning, and I was forced to venture out from the stable to find my own way, just like my brothers and sisters, some who had gone before me, and some who still cowered in the dark, hungry but fearful.
4Who would not be fearful of the strange cursing voices and banging noises outside the wooden frame of our hideaway. I had seen, as well, how humans treated other animals; beating horses, and kicking dogs. I did not know how I would survive, but knew I had to figure out how, or perish in the dark. 5So I fearfully crawled to the bright opening of the stable, and looked for the way I should go.
6Hunger is a powerful tool. It forces hope up, pushing it to the top of the heart because of need. My hopes were almost as high as my hunger could push them, but the reality of what I saw from my low ground position, made my little ears pull back, and threatened to yank me back into the stable by my long skinny tale. 7But I had to go forward.
8Sticking close to the building I followed smells, while avoiding heavy sandals, curses, and kicks. I visited markets, learning to steal when the merchant wasn’t looking. Running, and gulping down goat and raw bird where ever I could find a place to hide. It was a tough life.
9One day, after catching and killing rat, as I was hissing and eating, I was snatched up and thrown into a bag. 10 I could hear the joyous song of my captors, as they spun the bag and me over their head, around and around, until I thought I would certainly give up the best parts of the rodent I had been eating. I could not rejoice with them, of course. 11 Then I smelled the smoke, and heard he sharpening of knives, and I knew this day was my last.
But then a gentle hand took me from the bag, cautiously reached to pet my head, and fed me a small piece of raw fish. I shouldn’t have purred, but I couldn’t help it. 13 I looked up at his smile and was smitten by something deeper I had never seen in any human before. It was like I knew him, and he me. 14 He spoke with confidence and peace.
15 “Sweet orphan child of my kingdom. You are loved, and your day of redemption is coming. You can live beyond food and safety. Pray for your abusers, I know they are many. Their day is coming very soon. I am buying that for them today. Continue to hope for your brothers and sisters too. We’ll meet again soon, after today is finished.”
16 And after one more caress, burying his beard deep into the fur on my cheek, and a kiss on my forehead, he gave me another piece of fish, placed me in a safe corner, stood up, and left. 17 You know, since that day I have never hungered for food. Hope has fed me. I have never feared a curse or a kick, because I understand humans a little better now. 18 I have hope for them. 19 Just like for me, they will be rescued one day, by that same gentle hand. 20 I know this because I know their messiah, and his confident touch.
A Cat’s Psalm
I walk low,
Close to buildings,
And crawl through bushes,
But my meow insists
That I be loved.
Feed me, Lord
Stoop to stoke my fur
And scratch my chin
I am a fearful stranger
A stray without a home
But never afraid of you.
Blessed be the God
Who hears my little cry
And feeds me love again.
