How much do you know God?
The basic knowledge that we can know about God is: “No one has ever seen God; the only God, who is at the Father’s side, He has made Him known.” (John 1:18) “For in Him (Christ Jesus) the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily.” (Col. 2:9).
From these verses we understand that it is Jesus Christ who is same as and perfectly equal to God who makes God known to us. Jesus is God. But as humans, we have a limit to our understanding. Man can by no means understand the incomprehensible God. Whatever we know about God is infinitely limited.
Hear what Jesus has to say more: “They said to Him therefore, ‘Where is your father?’ Jesus answered, ‘You know neither Me nor My Father. If you knew Me, you would know My Father also.” (John 8:19) “--- Whoever has seen Me has seen the Father.” (John 14:9)
Jesus being Himself God, took the form of man so that people like us can recognize Who God is. If we want to understand the nature and character of God we need only to look on the life of Jesus by experiencing and tasting Him daily.
There are varied opinions people have on Jesus. But Jesus is actually the Son of the Most High God. He reveals God to mankind. He has the ability and power to manifest the Supreme God to limited human minds. Each one of us has a different understanding of God; some of us know Him more and some less.
Whatever our knowledge of God may be, we should examine whether it came from our regular study of the Word of God or from human thinking. Whether it came as a result of our daily fellowship with Him or by merely a Christian sermon.
Friend, how much do you know God? Do you know He loves you in spite of your shortcomings? Do you taste and see His goodness continually in your life? Do you have something to say about God at this present moment? Can you say boldly, “I know my Lord!”?
I praise God if your answer is ‘yes’. But if you have not yet tasted God, He is ready to make Himself known to you. Just repent of your sins and come to Him with faith in the finished work of the Lord Jesus Christ on the cross. He will wipe all your tears, give you hope, peace and joy, fill you with His divine love. Your life will be changed, transformed. You will become a new creation.
Thus, becoming a child of God, you will grow in His knowledge as you spend time with Him, singing for Him, reading His Word and talking to Him in prayer. Experience of fellowship is the method to look upon Jesus! This results is knowing God!
