Encouragement
Freedom explained through the teachings of Joe Stowell, in his sermon: “Firm Foundation” parts 1 & 2:
“…Freedom is a result of walking and accepting the truth of God.”
“Freedom is a result of living, accepting, walking and affirming in the truth of God. That is the only way I get free from my bondage of sin. And it’s not just at the cross of an empty tomb, its every day of my life as I hear the truth of God telling me, “Don’t lie! Tell the truth! Don’t be bitter! Forgive! That suddenly the road to my life becomes free.”
He goes on to say, “I am free of bitterness. I am free of fear. I am free of guilt. I am free of addiction. I am free of bondage and I am free of the danger that Satan puts in my road, if I am walking in the moral absolute truth of God…”
Therefore, I am free if I walk in the way of the truth…the way of truth is life because the Bible tells us that God is truth. He is the way, the truth and the Life (John 14:6). That is God’s Word and we know the truth by reading or hearing and doing what His Word says.
In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God (John 1:1). I cannot be any clearer at this point of my walk in Christ. The truth is what sets us free (John 8:36). We can only know the truth if we choose to know the Author of truth--God.
We have a choice: We can choose to live in a multiple choice world where we choose what we believe is truth or we can choose to Know God and recognise that there is truth and there is false. Choosing to know God and following His commands is the only way to freedom. This is the truth that will set you free, for he who the Son sets free is free indeed.

Dear friends,
This piece was written on the 7th July 2012 as I sought spiritual direction… Yesterday, was our family service and the lesson was about listening to God’s voice. This morning as I went through my notes I came across this piece that reminded me of the journey over the past two years. This time, two years ago I was in the deepest part of the pit. It was so dark I could not see my way out of the mess. But I chose to be still and I allowed God to fight my battles, while I continued being obedient to His will.
Listening to that sermon, by Joe Stowell, placed another piece of the puzzle in place as I sought direction then. Today, I look back in gratitude to God for the leading of His Holy Spirit. He adjusted my thinking and I was no longer afraid to do what I knew needed to be done. I am now in a happier frame of mind for being obedient. I am also in a new place of fellowship and growing stronger each day.
Our lives would be so much better if we would only allow God to direct our paths. My prayer is still, “Order my steps Lord! Order my steps please!” It is based on the Bible verse Psalm 37:23. I pray that will be your prayer also and that you will accept His Spirit’s leading in your life and be free.
Your sister in Christ,
Janice S Ramkissoon
