TREASURES ON MY STREET
While sauntering down the avenue
With no particular thing to do.
The air is fresh the day so bright
And all around are jewels in flight.
Autumn leaves fall everywhere
Like crimson gems gay and rare.
Mustard, orange and red aglow
Maple, cherry descend on low.
As squirrels give chase around oak trees
I take delight in an icy breeze.
My lungs fill up with an earthy whiff
As a sparrow sings ornate and stiff.
So thankful for this season’s fall
And the Great Lord God who made it all.
