Ever found yourself at the end of your rope with no way out; at your wits end? If you don't have, and know the Lord in these instances, then you are grievously to be pitied.
But when you know the King, the Father of your soul, the Lord who values you as His children; then set your eyes upon Him and expect a way out of no way. The Lord is about to make a way for you, "That He might be glorified." When you have done all that you can do, then it is time to wait upon the Lord.
Remember the children of Israel whose backs were against the Red Sea with the enemy fast approaching? The Great and Mighty God parted the sea for them to escape and walk on dry land -- "That He might be glorified." Then He withdrew His hand to drown the enemy in those very same waters.
"And I will deliver thee out of the hand of the wicked, and I will redeem thee out of the hand of the terrible."
"He shall send from heaven and save me from the reproach of him that would swallow me up."
"When thou passeth through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee; when thou walkest through the fire, thou shall not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee."
Remember the three Hebrew boys thrown into the furnace of fire for refusing to worship an idol god? They had no way out, but even in the final hour, God met them in the flames; and true to His word, they were not burned, neither did the fire kindle upon them. That very day the whole kingdom fell down to worship the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego.
Believe in God and trust in Him. Even a grain of a mustard seed of faith will produce miraculous results. "For without faith we cannot please God." Our faith will ignite His power and presence in our circumstances.
"Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions."
Remember Daniel in the lion's den; he had no way out. And when his enemies thought they had triumphed; the Lord met Daniel in the lion's den and locked the jaws of the lions. That He might be glorified! And Daniel's enemies fell to the fate they had conspired against him.
"Though I walk in the midst of trouble, the Lord will revive me; He shall stretch forth His hand against the wrath of mine enemies and His right hand shall save me."
"My soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers; the snare is broken and we are escaped."
And what about Jonah who had no way out but to be tossed into the raging sea at his own request; that the wrath of God might be spared upon the crew. And God was glorified in their eyes when after throwing Jonah into the turbulent waters, they saw that, "... the sea ceased from her raging. Then the men feared the Lord exceedingly, and offered a sacrifice unto the Lord and made vows."
At Jonah's own request he was thrown into the raging sea. I'd have to say that was an act of faith. Surely, Jonah had to believe he was in actuality, being thrown into God's hands. "Now the Lord had prepared a great fish to swallow up Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights."
This was indeed a time of affliction for Jonah. "Out of the belly of hell cried I, and Thou heardest my voice."
"Thou who has shown me great and sore troubles shall quicken me again. Thou shalt bring me up again from the depths of the earth. Thou shalt increase my greatness and comfort me on every side."
Have you ever felt yourself in the "belly of the whale" with no way out? Seek the Lord's glory while you are there. We must accept the fact that even the fish was Jonah's rescue from the raging sea. Without the fish, he might have drowned. Stay open minded for those blessings in disguise.
Though uncomfortable, the fish was a symbol of hope. To have been swallowed up by a fish instead of drowning, was God's mercy; and evidence that the Lord had control of the matter and could just as well deliver him from the belly of the fish.
What trial has brought you to a point of no way out? Perhaps some disease has afflicted you; or maybe an addiction has gotten a stronghold on you; or maybe you have enemies who are trying to ruin you. There could be a variety of financial woes; or perhaps facing foreclosure on your home. It could even be that you do not have a home at all.
Trust in God to do the things you cannot do. Never venture to take unethical measures to remedy your dilemma. You will only make matters worse. There comes a time when you do not take matters into your own hands. Only He can do the impossible, so step aside and look to the Lord to bring you the solution. Remember, "Nothing is impossible with God."
