I am convinced that if America ever needed to see the hand of God upon us, the time is now. It may seem that we have plenty of time to seek God, but yet the time is now. Now is the time to call upon our God. Now is the time to seek His face as we have never done before. The time is now.
Might we cry out with the Psalmist, "Awake, why sleepest thou, O Lord? arise, cast us not off for ever. Wherefore hidest thou thy face, and forgettest our affliction and our oppression? For our soul is bowed down to the dust: our belly cleaveth unto the earth. Arise for our help, and redeem us for thy mercies' sake" (Psalm 44:23-26). Even as I write this, my eyes are filled with tears. Where, Oh where, has our God gone?
He is at the same place He has always been. We left Him there many years ago. He is just a prayer away. In Isaiah 50:2 we read, "Wherefore, when I came, was there no man? when I called, was there none to answer? Is my hand shortened at all, that it cannot redeem? or have I no power to deliver? behold, at my rebuke I dry up the sea, I make the rivers a wilderness: their fish stinketh, because there is no water, and die for thirst."
Oh America, we are dying from thirst. Pour Yourself on us. Please Father, the time is now that You pour Yourself out on this rebellious nation. "For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, and floods upon the dry ground: I will pour my spirit upon thy seed, and my blessing upon thine offspring" (Isaiah 44:3).
Where are the showers of blessing? Why have you turned Your face away? "Behold, the LORD'S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear: But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear. For your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with iniquity; your lips have spoken lies, your tongue hath muttered perverseness" (Isaiah 59:1-3). What a description of 21st century America! Lord please, the time is now.
"But if from thence thou shalt seek the LORD thy God, thou shalt find him, if thou seek him with all thy heart and with all thy soul" (Deuteronomy 4:29). Might we seek You with our whole heart and soul. Might we separate from the wickedness that clouds our view of Your glory. Might we see You--the King of glory in all Your holiness and purity, and might we adjust to Your standard. "I saw...the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up..Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone...for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts (Isaiah 6:1, 5).
We have sinned against You. That is not a little thing. It is THE thing that has caused Your presence and blessing to depart from this country. The glory of God can no longer be seen. We have become a heathen nation apart from Your plan and purpose for our lives. God, the time is now. Please do not forget about us. Even now stir our hearts afresh for You. You see Lord, it is not about Your blessing departing from this country. It is not about what You can do for us. It is about YOU! Get You glory again in this nation, please Father.
