Inventors have used this technique for decades and writers can too. An original invention is all about, “Thinking the Unthinkable.” If it were thinkable, someone has already thought of it. So, how do we create original ideas? Use dreams as a source.
Remember, the first 5 minutes upon awakening is the best time to recall dreams. Keep a notepad or tape recorder beside your bed. If you want to double your dream notes, wake up in the middle of the night. How do you do that? Drink a large glass of water prior to bedtime and you will awaken within a couple of hours. It is a good idea to keep a second notepad or recorder in the bathroom also.
Since dreams are mostly fantasy, they are made for fiction writers. Be aware that one dream may or may not apply, but notes on several dreams could lead to success. Utilize dreams from your subconscious mind as the source, then formulate the information with your conscious mind. If you want to concentrate on a specific idea, visualize it as you fall asleep.
*The subconscious mind and conscious brain working together as a team often spawn incredible results.
