Father, so many Japanese people have died or are suffering the aftermath of the great earthquake with the ensuing tsunami. Now we hear of the nuclear reactors malfunctioning and possibly spewing radioactive toxins into the atmosphere. Lord, we are undone! How can these people survive; how can they come through such devastation? Only by your power and might, Father, and by your mercy.
Lord, we pray for your mercy on these needy people today. They are bent low and the loss is so great. We pray that you will comfort them in this time of need and bring their spirits to look to you for their help. For you are their only source of power, only hope of standing up throughout this ordeal and waiting to see your help.
We praise you, Lord, for hearing our prayers and bringing relief to these people. Have mercy on them, have mercy on them. We weep for their loss, we comfort them with our tears. Our hearts are weighed low also for their heavy burdens. Have mercy on them, Father, for they are our brothers and sisters, our fathers and mothers, our children and grandchildren, our friends and kindred. Have mercy on them this day, O Lord.
Thank you, Father, for your mercy, love, joy among the devastation. We look to you for our only hope and we believe help is not far off. You are an awesome God, and our Father and only source of strength. Gird up our loins and save your people, Father, for we wait on you. We wait on you.
In Jesus’ name…amen
