Through Thorny Ways

You have the right to choose for me
Anything You please,
And if my path must walk through this,
In faith my soul agrees.

I would not choose this desert place
Where I feel so alone,
My spirit parched, my soul wrung out,
This earthly vessel groans.

Discouragement has reared its head,
Frustration's on the rise,
Depression and confusion
Have led to teary eyes.

Though living life with Jesus,
His path not one of ease,
Both sorrow, suffering, He has used
To bring me to my knees.

If I would truly be like Him
I must accept His path,
And though through hardships they will lead
So sweet...the aftermath.

Walking through the desert,
Or painful thorny ways,
Will lead me to depend on Him,
His faithfulness displays.

For finally I learn to trust
His ways are always best,
My character's developed,
My soul enriched and blessed.

His methods I oft question
When troubled on all sides,
With faith and trust I look to Him
Because He still abides.

He never leaves me on my own
Though I can't hear His voice,
But I have chosen by my faith
To simply just rejoice.

He promised there'd be hard times,
The testing, yes, would come,
But, most of all, He promised
In Him I'd overcome.

Hi Carol, many relate including me. Oh to go through what ever the problem with Him compared to the alternative. I know we all choose Him. Great job on conveying the thoughts. Wonderful Poem of hope !

Loved the thoughts and care you expressed in this lovely poem. You showed you LOVE and knowledge of Jesus. Also I especially enjoy poems that rhyme. Some people try to get close to rhyming, but you were right ON, even when I thought it might be hard to rhyme with the last word in your second sentence. Thank you very much. I really enjoyed reading, Through Thorny Ways.

My dear, dear, Carol . . . How I love you and feel your pain and know somewhat of the suffering . . . but here is the key, in your very own words, "For finally I learn to trust His ways are always best." In my heart of hearts, I believe this truth and with that knowledge I whole heartily trust Him, as I know YOU do too. Lots of love and prayers for you and your family tonight. . . . Debby
