Changing our behavior,
Conforming to God's law,
The more we try, the more we fail
And on our knees we fall.
Guilt and condemnation,
The shadows we can't lose,
For when the Son shines on our sin
Defeat we can't excuse.
Intentions are not good enough,
Though often try we'll fail,
For human effort by itself
Just leaves a tearful trail.
We trust what God has told us,
We know that He can't lie,
Then knowing we're forgiven
His peace will dry the eye.
