When calamity comes
We feel we're deceived,
We feel we should prosper
Because we believed.
Each trial's perceived
As God's iron rod,
By it we are punished,
A true act of God.
Yet God in His wisdom
Allows us some pain,
His purpose far higher
Than man can explain.
In testing, the depth
Of our faith is revealed,
For in summer breezes
The roots are concealed.
If showers of blessing
On us were outpoured,
Our roots would be shallow
Not deep in the Lord.
So testing and trials
Are but God's design,
A part of His purpose
To deepen, refine.
"Consider it wholly joyful, my brethren, whenever you are enveloped in or encounter trials of any sort, or fall into various temptations. Be assured and understand that the trial and proving of your faith bring out endurance and steadfastness and patience. But let endurance and steadfastness and patience have full play and do a thorough work, so that you may be (people) perfectly and fully developed (with no defects), lacking in nothing." James 1:2-4 (Amplified)
