1. Verbs--as an ESL speaker I don't "feel" the difference between the past and the present perfect. I need a simple, easy to remember, rule--if such a thing exists.

There are specific "signal words" that help us "feel" the "time element" of an action, whether the action happened at a specific time in the past (Simple Past) or happened recently / already / not yet (Present Perfect.)
