Onomatopoeia

Post by Colswann1 »

Jan - the first verse of Frankie Laine's "Mule Train" seems to fit the bill:

Mule train, yeah, yeah.
Mule train: clippetty-clopping over hill and plain,
Seems as how they'll never stop.
Clippetty-clop, clippetty- clop clippetty, clippetty,
clippetty, clippetty, clippetty-clopping along.

My effort at a poem:

Bang, bang, clang, creak,
She's at it again
The DIY freak.

Thud, thud, wang, wallop,
The ceilings in
A great big dollop.

Swish, swish, swash, sweep,
She's cleaning up
The nasty heap.

p.s. I submitted homework for 'Consonance'.

Of course my favorite Onomatopoeia ... did I get it right??

 8) Yeah!!

Anyway ... my favorite as a child was "Snap, crackle, pop ... Rice Krispies."

Does that count?

I'm at work and can't decide between a poem or a short story ... be back later with my real homework.

I don't care whether the glass is half full or half empty. I want to know what's in the glass!

One of these days I will stop biting the bullet ... I will put it back in my gun and shoot

Oh, ha ha ha Holly--I actually figured that someone would try the spelling "it" trick.

Well, you've only got one week to wait for "personification"--start collecting examples!

Yes, Holly, that delightful story will indeed work for both weeks. I guess you get off easy next week, unless you've got more personification up your sleeve.
