Hello, Challengeers. Welcome back after our break. We have a fun topic to get the ball rolling:
SCUTTLEBUTT (rumor or gossip)
http://www.faithwriters.com/writing-challenge-intro.php
Scuttlebutt comes from the naval term for a cask used to serve water. This led to the connection with the office water cooler. In turn, that’s where all the office gossip and chat often takes place. So the scuttlebutt became connected to rumor and gossip.
And that’s the scuttlebutt we’re looking for this week—rumor and gossip.

As always, you can write in any genre or style you like, AS LONG AS SOME MEANING OF THE TOPIC IS THE MAIN FOCUS OF YOUR ENTRY ... and as long as the entry conforms to the rules.
And keep this in mind: Entries may be in any style or genre, and they do not need to be overtly Christian in message. However, they must, at minimum, come from a Christian worldview/outlook. In the case of fiction, the Christian worldview/outlook may be subtle or allegorical, but it should still offer a fairly clear Christian viewpoint.
Remember to check your word count before submitting (entries must be between 150 and 750 words). A very reliable and free online word count check tool is this one:

PLEASE, always hit the preview button to check your entry before hitting the final submit button. This is the only way to make sure your entry is uploaded correctly. This is very important, particularly if you are using HTML code for the first time. Once you have previewed your entry, close the preview page and hit the submit button.
Finally, once submitted, do a check to make sure your entry is safely in the list:

And that’s the scuttlebutt for this week. Hope to see you in the list.
Love, Joanne

Re: Week 1 Challenge topic - Scuttlebutt
Woke up with a random story idea at 4:30am. It actually fit this week's challenge. Wrote it (by dictation), did my devotional time, came back for editing and...SUBMITTED! First challenge entry since May 2016.

YAaaaayi, Sarah!
THe rest of you? Get busy! Numbers are pretty low this week. Don't let the judges off TOO easy!
