Break Week 1 - Mini Challenge

Postby Deb Porter » Fri Jul 28, 2017 5:03 pm

Hi there Challengeers.

The Challenge is back next Thursday (August 3), but I know some of you like to have a little challenge to keep you going. So here's a fun test for you ... and it will also help hone your tight writing skills.

So, here's what you need to do.

1. Write four stand alone stories, each set in the same place (the characters can be different).

2. Each story must be set in a different season, in order, but you choose the season to start.

3. (Here's the catch ... and there always has to be a catch.) Each story must be 100 words exactly. Not a word more or less.

4. Post it to your regular articles at FaithWriters. https://www.faithwriters.com/myaccount/submitRTE.php

5. Come back to this forum and post a link to your article. If you aren't sure how to do that, let us know and we'll help you.

No judging for this Challenge Break Mini Challenge, but the reward is in stretching yourself and keeping your writing pump primed. (We won't be counting your words, either. This is about you honing your skill.)

Every member of FaithWriters can jump into this, so why not give it a go? I'm looking forward to walking through the seasons with you. Remember, all four of your stories must be set in the same general location/area. This may be a town. Also, they must each stand alone--a complete story that doesn't continue on to the next season.

Have fun! I'm cheering you on.

Love, Deb

And if you want to see a master do it, get Jan's book Stolen Postcards. A year full of stories, each exactly 100 words.

Just saw this post. I just ended a long period of procrastination regarding the implantation of a pacemaker. Finally faced reality and had it done last week. A Mini-Challenge would have filled my restlessly anxious moments. Don't know if I can meet the deadline. Perhaps next time...

Lillian, soooooo glad you had that pacemaker taken care of. :hugs2

You can take as long as you like. Although the mini Challenge finishes when the new topic starts on Thursday, it's a loose close off time. Have fun with it.

Hi, Deb.
I lost my nerve last Thursday and didn't submit my mini challenge.
Just wondering if the "flexible" deadline would be THIS flexible. I could use the the feedback :? If not, no worries.

Thanks :thankssign

LOL. I don't think you were the only one. Seems everyone got cold feet with this one. Feel free to post a link to it whenever you upload it to your regular articles.

It's me again. The thing that gave me pause about submitting my entry last week is the thing I should have paid closer attention to. While each story stood alone, it did have a common thread. I posted it, but will pass on submitting it here. :?

Thanks again.

A common thread is fine, as long as the stories can be read as complete on their own. :D Good on you for rising to this little challenge. I think you may have been the only one to do it.
