Re: Be a Better Writer--FLOW (the 7th judging criteria)

Re: Writing Challenge Feedback Reports and Rating Categories

Hi Deb This is exciting. Will there be a form or some formal way we need to use to request our desire for the feedback reports before the next quarter starts? Since we need to request before October 1st, is my commentary here sufficient that I want to participate? Also, with only three requests, how...

Re: #10--More about writing "on topic"

Jan, I appreciate your explanation on "supposed to" and using the word "expect" as a guide.

This word has always bugged me since "supposed"' is past tense and I might be writing in a different tense. I really like your explanation.

Thank you

Scenario: How to describe a pen without using the word pen. I can write about its uses, shape, color, where it may be located, why it might be used, etc., all without saying the word pen. I think of this often when writing. Is this a good analogy to help me stay on topic without feeling burdened to ...

Doreen was heading home and focused on her book. Next to her sat a large man. She inched closer to the window for easement. When the train she was riding went through tunnels she regrets not having purchased a back-lit e-reader. Note to herself: get a book light . The screeching train stopped abrupt...

Re: Be a Better Writer--Writing on topic

Jan, I meant to add that when I looked at Jan's Writing Basics, there are many lessons. Bless you!

I'm guessing this is where the eight lessons relating to the Writing Challenge are located. Which ones are more pertinent for me just starting out with your lessons?

Writing on Topic homework HOMEWORK: 1. Read one of the stories linked to above, and comment on its “on-topic-ness.” Do you think it could or should have been more on topic?
