Even though I'm on the wrong coast, I had to swing over to the other side of the country. I haven't seen pup on the boards much and wanted to see if all is well. I'm so glad i dropped in because I just love the picture and I am jealous. I'd love to have lunch with you all! And I don't know Barb, the...

My grandmother used to play the card game Solitary. I misused it for years until I was old enough to understand my mom's explanation that it was Solitaire and it wouldn't be right to correct Grandma. The vegetable rutabaga was always pronounced rootabaggie. It didn't stop me from eating them but I'm...

See what you didn't understand, the weeks you didn't enter, I'd go into the archives to get a taste of PUP, so see you can be one of my favorites every week, even if you didn't enter! OK OK, but what ever you do, don't place a comment on "The Trumpet Sounds" I am going for a record on that one. 110...

Thank you again. My self-esteem has taken a beating lately, and I was afraid people might think I was prideful for commenting on the pieces. but I truly received so much more than the little I gave. It's wonderful to share other's thoughts and ideas. I feel I have been blessed by all of you.

And thank you Shann for your dedication. Honestly, I don't see how the judges can do it. I tried once, when I first started up, to read through them all. I saw so many "GOOD" writers, it made me feel bad that mine was even listed among them. Now, even reading just the ones listed in the Hinting and...

I've been wanting to read and comment on every entry since I found this wonderful place. I did it this week and the entries were great and made fun reading. Congratulations to all of the winners as well to everyone else who submitted an entry. I appreciate the blood, sweat and tears that go into the...

Dear Jan, I just wanted to thank you for your timely lesson. I had been playing around with humph and had a few typical ideas in mind. Last night I rethought and am now going in an almost totally different direction. My big fear is that my OOTB humph idea won't be OOTB because you so greatly inspire...

The first storm of the season, as the thunder and lightening sounded scary and looked like fire streaking to earth, which is really aliens in an UFO coming to see how many little girls are hiding under the bed afraid of lightening. What do you think did I get too weird? Maybe a little bit. Written ...

Here's my OOTB idea: The fire truck comes to school for an assembly. One of the kinders climbs aboard and hides. The firefighters leave with the child on board the truck. Told from the child's POV. Excellent! Or (purely personal preference on my part) written from the fire fighter's POV. Or...from ...

Okay! I haven't peeked. Here are my first five words: Hot Burn Hell Stoves Blazes Hopefully my out of the box thought is: to get excited, to get all fired up but as I look at it I don't think it's going to be very original the cliche' adding fuel to the fire came up as I read it over, I can do bette...
